10 am – 6 pm
Peaceful Death, Joyful Rebirth
A Day Long Workshop

Please join the American Foundation for Tibetan Cultural Preservation for a day of meditation, reflection, and healing led by The Venerable Tulku Thondup Rinpoche. Drawing from his book, Peaceful Death, Joyful Rebirth, Rinpoche will detail the passages of life and death and explain how and why we are reborn in different realms. The book is based on Buddhist teachings and the first-hand accounts of delogs, people who returned from death to tell what lay beyond.

Tulku Thondup will also lead a guided meditation to transform our mind's habitual karma to ensure rebirth in the most accessible Pure Land -- the Blissful Pure Land (Skt., Sukhavati) of the Buddha of Infinite Light (Skt., Amitabha). The workshop will cover four things we need to do to be reborn in this Pure Land: think about its qualities, make merits, develop an enlightened attitude, and aspire to take rebirth there. Because feelings often penetrate deeper into our mind, Tulku will introduce us to what it feels like to be in the Pure Land and in the presence of the Buddha of Infinite Light and how to open our thoughts and hearts in harmony with peace and joy. The more these qualities infuse our mind now, the more vividly they will arise at death.

Boundless Healing
A Day-Long Workshop on the
Healing Power of Mind

Please join the American Foundation for Tibetan Cultural Preservation for a day of meditation, reflection, and healing led by The Venerable Tulku Thondup Rinpoche. Drawing on his books, The Healing Power of Mind and Boundless Healing, Tulku Thondup will explain the mind’s power to heal pain and stress, and to blossom into peace and joy, by loosening the clinging attitudes that Buddhists call "grasping at self." If we apply the mind's healing power, we can heal not only our mental and emotional afflictions, but physical problems as well.

This workshop offers instruction and guided meditations on awakening the healing power of mind itself. The principles on which these instructions and meditations are based is the universal nature and omnipresent power envisioned in Mahayana Buddhism. For healing, we don't have to be believers in any particular faith. We can heal body and mind simply by being what we truly are, and by allowing our own natural healing qualities to manifest – the healing qualities of a peaceful and open mind, a loving and positive attitude, and warm, joyful energy in a state of balance and harmony.

Pre-registration is necessary for this event. Please call 323-769-6345 to RSVP and discuss driving directions, carpooling & accommodations.
