Zangdok Palri Model in progress

Applications to participate in Ari Bhöd's Zangdok Palri Apprentice Program are currently being accepted!

Help build our Three-Dimensional Zangdolk Palri Mandala model, the first of its kind in the US. This is a rare opportunity to work and practice at Ari Bhöd with Mandala Artist Pema Namdol Thaye.

This highly symbolic mandala represents the enlightened mind of Guru Padmansambhava, the master who brought Buddhism to Tibet in the eighth century. For those who see, touch, enter or remember this sacred structure, it is said that a connection is made to quicken one’s spiritual development and to realize one’s innate compassion. Historically the Zangdok Palri mandala is extremely ornate and detailed, requiring rare, esoteric expertise that is currently in danger of being lost.

April 2008 – September 2008

Two Week Minimum commitment.

Artistic background beneficial but not necessary.

Applicants should be detail oriented, diligent and able to focus quietly for long periods of time.

Please call 323-769-6345 to request an application.

DISK ONE
In this intimate teaching, the Venerable Lama Chödak Gyatso Nubpa pulls back the curtain on the mystic tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and offers us a profound appreciation of the precious nature of this very life. Teaching in fluent English with humility, grace and humor, Lama Gyatso introduces us to the true nature of impermanence, and more importantly, offers methods we can use to prepare ourselves to confidently face our inevitable finale, the dying process and our own death.

DISK TWO
A poignant question-and-answer session begins disc two, in which Lama Gyatso addresses the many difficult aspects of suicide. This is followed by suggestions of how we can best support our loved ones during their life-to-death transition, and how we can benefit the deceased after death. Concluding this two-disc set are traditional sacred Tibetan verses chanted by Lama Gyatso. These ancient verses, known as “Liberation upon Hearing”, were first shared with Lama Gyatso by his childhood tutor Zang Zang Lama Dhunyod Rinpoche in Aninkar Tibet. Tibetan teachings hold that even the most subtle recollection of these verses will bring some ease of mind to us during the process of transition from this life.

A PLACE FOR PRACTICE, PEACE AND PRESERVATION

Ari Bhöd is The American Foundation for Tibetan Cultural Preservation, a non-profit dedicated to preserving the sacred cultural heritage of Tibet. It was founded by the Ven. Lama Gyatso Nubpa to preserve this vast and profound model for peace, which after 1200 years is now in danger of being lost. We are in the process of repairing and renovating a 475-acre mountain property near the city of Tehachapi to create a retreat center for Ari Bhöd.
